Silverbridge Notes 19th September 2005

E-mail Print
All is quiet on the football front for the club as the season winds to a close. The seniors have one more game in October and they are training away in preparation for it.

U 21

There will be a meeting and training for the U 21s this Monday night (19th September) in preparation for the championship, which commences on 30th October. All the U 21s are invited to attend at 7 30pm.

Michael Donnelly Cup

Ninety-two children from the U 8s to U 12s were counted in the field last Sunday morning as some trained and the others prepared to do battle in the annual Michael Donnelly competition. Such a gathering of young people cannot but auger well for the future of the club. It was a lovely morning and the children provided a great morning’s entertainment. The matches were played in an atmosphere of “friendly” rivalry with the many parents getting caught up in the excitement. The “Yellow” team were the eventual winners, beating the “Red” team in an exciting final. The children will be presented with the cup and trophies at the Underage Presentation later in the year.

U 8

Our U 8s took part in the final blitz of the year in Dromintee on Saturday last and all had a good time. They also were in Dromintee a week ago to play in the Sean McGinity tournament, and after winning some and losing some games they reached the semi-final of the shield. These young people are truly committed to their football and thanks to the help and encouragement of their coaches have come along in leaps and bounds over the year. They will continue to train on Sunday mornings while the weather permits.

Ladies Football

Don’t forget the club is organising a coach to the All Ireland Ladies Finals in Croke Park on Sunday 2nd October, (next Sunday week) when Armagh will play Sligo in the Junior Final. Anyone wishing to travel, please give their names and a €10 deposit to Kieran Murphy as soon as possible. There are special discounts for under 16's and the total cost of coach and admission is not expected to be greater than €15 for under 16's. However, to avail of this group scheme we need numbers as soon as possible.

Lotto

Last week’s numbers were 11, 18, 21 and 25. The jackpot was not won but there were eighteen match three winners with fifteen winning £15 and the other three receiving €22.50. The jackpot for this week will be £10,200 or €15,300.
