Silverbridge Harps GAC Notes
Minors
Training continued during the week for the U21, minor and U16 teams as they prepare for their coming games. Otherwise things were quiet on the football front.
The minor league final between Silverbridge and Carrickcruppen will be played next Saturday in Newtown at 4 30pm.
Senior Panel
A meeting of the senior management team and the senior panel of players takes place next Tuesday night (12th October) at 9pm in the clubrooms and all the players are requested to attend.
Quiz and 25 Card Drive.
Now that there are few football matches to pass an evening we must find other ways of entertaining ourselves. To this end we have organised a 25 card drive for turkeys starting this Wednesday (tomorrow) night in the “Wee Bar”, and continuing on every Wednesday night towards Christmas.
On Friday night the first of our quizzes will start at 9 30pm in the Wee Bar. As we intend to run them on a mini-league basis over the next weeks we hope to have a bit of fun. The admission fee is a mere £10 per table so gather together a few friends for a bit of craic and test your general knowledge.
Lotto
Last week’s lucky numbers were 4, 8, 14 and 16. The jackpot did not go but there were eighteen match threes, 15 of whom won £15 and 3 got €22.50. The jackpot is now at the magnificent sum of £8,800 or €13,200.
Meetings
The Gala Night committee will meet this Thursday night at 9pm. Through their efforts the Gala Night is going to be a wonderful night with Adrian Logan in the chair and Jerome Quinn and Martin McHugh to name just two of the illustrious guests from the GAA world. On the night, too, we will have the U21 All Ireland cup. As well as some wonderful GAA memorabilia for auction and raffle there are other exciting items such as tickets to Ireland’s final world cup qualifying match next year.
Youth Club.
The youth club is back in action this week with the girls coming on Tuesday night at 7pm and the boys on Wednesday night at the same time. Those parents who have still to register their children can do so on the night. The registration fee is £5 per child and one parent must sign the registration form, so we’ll see you on the night. We would also like to stress to all parents that the children must be collected at 9pm sharp as this is when activities finish each night, and we would also ask you to ensure that your child does go into the youth club when they arrive on their designated night.
We will be calling on the volunteers on our rota as they are required over the coming weeks, and once again we wish to say thank you to all who put their names down to help out.
Congratulations
We wish to take this opportunity to congratulate the Armagh U21 team on their historic win over Mayo in Breffeni on Saturday. It was a wonderful achievement gained in tremendous fashion by a dedicated team of players and management. Well done Peter Rafferty and a special word of praise to the players from local clubs who played an important part in the victory, and to our own Damien McCann who now has an All-Ireland medal to go with the Ulster Champion medal he won earlier in the Championship campaign.
