Seniors

The senior team played Wolfe Tones in the relegation play –off in Carrickcruppen on Sunday past, but were unable to hold off the Tones’ challenge and will play their football next season in Division Two. Tones had the advantage of a strong breeze in the first half and used it well. They were off the mark first putting their first two shots wide but then found the back of the net and another point opened up their lead. Colm Traynor scored a nice point and Ciaran Conlon got our second score. The pair combined well shortly afterwards, Colm intercepting the ball and picking out Ciaran who nipped around his marker to get the ball to Cormac McAvoy who scored a great goal to narrow the gap. Another point from Tones and then a goal as the break approached gave them a cushion of five points at halftime.
Tones got the opening score of the second half, but Barry Campbell came on for the Bridge and they were soon winning the midfield battle and started to pick up scores. They, however, were unable to convert all the opportunities they created and a couple of chances at goal didn’t come off so they were always playing catch-up and time eventually ran out. The final score was 2-8 to 1-8.
