Seniors

Silverbridge maintained their unbeaten run in the Ulster League with this close, but well deserved win over the previously unbeaten Tyrone side at Loughmacrorry on Sunday. Indeed had not the woodwork intervened on five occasions the Bridge could have been well ahead at the finish.
The Bridge were leading by two points to one after ten minutes when the home side were awarded a penalty which was duly converted. Ciaran Conlon replied with a fisted point but Loughmacrorry hit back with a similar score. With Ryan Hamill in fine form at midfield the Bridge played some fast moving football and points from Liam Campbell (2), Eugene Byrne and Niall Treanor gave them a one point lead at half time. A Brendan Byrne effort on the stroke of half time, following a sweeping move the length of the pitch, seemed destined to hit the back of the net but came off the post back into play.
The second half continued to be a close affair with never more than a few points between the sides. At the midway point the Bridge had opened up a three point lead but with five minutes remaining Loughmacrorry had fought their way back to level terms with everything still to play for. Ciaran Conlon fired the visitors into the lead with just two minutes remaining and, although Loughmacrorry had three wides n the closing minutes, the Bridge held on to preserve their unbeaten run and claim top of the table in their group.
Final score 0-12 to 1-8.
Next week’s match with Kinawley will be played in Keeley Park at 4 pm on Saturday 4th. There will be a game, also with a Kinawley selection, for the newly inaugurated Cathcart Cup on the same evening.

Ladies Football

There was a poor attendance at training on Saturday last with a combined total of just twenty two players turning up for U 14 and senior training on Saturday evening. The trainers of both teams are putting the effort in, and the girls should respond if they are serious about developing ladies football in the club. Training continues this week for the U 14s on Monday at 7 pm and for the seniors on Thursday at 7 and Saturday at 6 30 pm. Please note the change of midweek training for the seniors due to Wednesday being Ash Wednesday.

Lotto

Last week’s numbers were 6, 13, 17 and 22. The jackpot wasn’t won but there were ten match three winners who shared £200. The jackpot will be £14,600 or €21,900 for this week’s draw.

Executive Meeting

The Executive committee will meet at 9 30 pm on Thursday night.

Underage Referee

As part of our Underage Development programme we require someone to referee at this level, especially with the U 10and U 12 teams.
We cannot expect our current referee to commit to Saturday evenings, Sunday mornings and senior games on Sunday afternoons.
If we are not able to fill this position our underage teams may be penalised. Experience is not necessary, as the South Armagh Board will provide the appropriate training during the month of March.
Anyone interested should contact Martin Reel at 30868 578 or Joe O’Connell at 30888 182.
