Seniors
The seniors had home advantage for their first league match on Sunday against Clann Eireann but failed to take the points. The match was one of two halves with the Bridge having the better first half to lead by the narrowest of margins at the break. The Bridge started well with Damian McCann opening with a point in the second minute, and Ciaran Conlon and Cormac McAvoy adding to the tally throughout the half. The backs were kept under pressure as the visitors settled into the match but they fielded well to dispossess and get the ball away up the field. Throughout the half the Bridge had the major share of possession but they didn’t make it count and the visitors narrowly missed two shots at goal.Ciaran Conlon scored the first point after the break but Clanns found the back of the net to take the lead and for the remainder of the game we were playing catch-up. We did have goal chances but Cormac’s shot was well saved by the Clann’s keeper. Points by Brendan Bellew, Ciaran Conlon and Damian McCann brought us to within one point five minutes to go but we missed the chance to equalise and by the end of the game Clanns had scored another point, The final score was 1-10 to 0-11.
Next Sunday’s game will be away to St Peters, Lurgan at 2 pm.
