Seniors Silverbridge Harps 0-10 Ballymacnab 1-4
This game, played in the Bridge, was a tense, sometimes lethargic affair in which both teams failed to make the most of the possession they won and simple mistakes were the order of the day. Ballymacnab were first off the mark but their shot at goal just skimmed past the post and at the other end Liam Campbell’s goal attempt was thwarted by the goalie. The ball passed back and forward up and down the field and on the eleventh minute the visitors pointed to open the scoring. They had another point up before the Bridge got their first point in the twenty-first minute. This seemed to spur our lads into action and two minutes later they were two points ahead. Then the visitors took full advantage of a mistake in the back line to fire into the back of the net, but a Damian McCann point kept us level at the break. The second half was much of the same with the ever–reliable Barry Campbell and Nicholas Traynor giving encouragement and leading by example. Goalkeeper, Miceal Reel, stood firm in his nets and made some vital catches. There were some bad wides but also some fine scores and in the end we held the victory with a three point margin.
Scorers: Eugene Byrne 0-2, Cormac McAvoy 0-1, Barry Campbell 0-1, Damian McCann 0-3, Brendan Byrne 0-1 and Liam Campbell 0-2.
This week the team plays away to Carrickcruppen on Friday night.
B Team
The B’s travelled to Dromintee on Friday night past to take on a Dromintee selection and after a good tight match had to be content with a draw. Dromintee were first to score but our lads kept plugging away to keep in contention. Bernard Connolly was in fine shooting form to claim 2-6 for the Bridge with the other points courtesy of Jarlath Burns and Peter Burns. The game was played at a fast pace and we saw some good fielding but, although we had the opportunity, the score to claim victory eluded us. Losing two goalkeepers through injury in the one game does not often happen but Ciaran McCann was injured in the first half and his substitute Kieran Crummy had to go off later on. The final score was 2-8 to 1-11.This week’s game is away to Carrickcruppen on Wednesday night.
Minors
The Minors played Killeavy on Wednesday night and, despite the wet night which left the ground very slippery underfoot, they played well to win by 4-4 to 1-9. They don’t have a game this week but training as usual.U 16
With the Óg sport competition postponed for two months the U 16s did not have a game last week. This Thursday night sees the playing of the preliminary round of the U 16 Championship and, as they are not involved in it, it will be training as usual for them this week.U 14
The U14 boys had a good away victory over Carrickcruppen on Tuesday night last. This was match played out on a terrible evening, with both teams trying hard despite the heavy rainfall. Silverbridge held a narrow lead at half time thanks to some great defending from the boys. In the second half Carrickcruppen began with an early goal to put the Bridge under pressure however the boys responded well with some important long range points and excellent defending to extend their lead. Overall this was an impressive performance from all players on the panel and continues the team's recent good run. This week they have a home game against Killeavy.
U 12
The U 12s had an away match against Shane O’Neills on Saturday afternoon but although, they put in a great effort, they lost out to a bigger, stronger team. Training as usual this week.U 10
On Sunday morning past the U 10s travelled down to Cullyhanna for their league game with St Patricks. This was a match contested between two very even teams. The Bridge opened their account with a goal and the game continued with end-to-end football but both teams failing to score. Then St Pats hit a purple patch to score 1-2 just before half time and went in at the break two points to the good. In the second half the bridge lads really played as a team with some great passing and score taking, and the defence stood strong when St Pats threatened. It was a great performance by all the lads. The Final score was 3-5 to 2-2. Lads please note there will be training at 6-30pm on Thursday evening.
5 to 8 year olds
Due to the Armagh match next Sunday training for the 5 to 8 year old boys and girls will be held off until Sunday week.Ladies Football
The senior girls had two games last week with a re-fixture against Mullabrack on Thursday night and an away game to Clady on Saturday. Victory over Mullabrack was secured thanks to a four-goal salvo from Dara Collins. The Clady game was a much more difficult assignment. Despite the assistance of a strong wind in the first half the Bridge girls led by just two points at half-time. In the first fifteen minutes of the second half Clady used the wind to great advantage and hit 1-12 without reply to lead by thirteen points. The Bridge did recover somewhat in the final ten minutes, led by Theresa Loye and Kevina Reel and managed to narrow the gap to six points at the final whistle.
Next Saturday the senior girls play Phelim Bradys in the Junior Championship at Cullyhanna at 7pm, and they would greatly appreciate your support.
Also on Saturday next Dromintee play Culloville at Silverbridge at 7pm in the same competition.
The U 14 girls get back to action on Monday night with a home game against St Pats followed by another home game against Oliver Plunketts on the following Monday

Lotto
The winning combination last week was 1, 8, 23 and 24. The jackpot was not won but there were five match three winners. The jackpot has now risen to £16,600 or €24,900 for this week’s draw. Wouldn’t we all like to win that so make sure you give yourself a chance by getting your numbers done.Sponsored Walk
The sponsored walk was a tremendous success last Monday. The weather, which had been a bit dodgy earlier on, held up for the walk and for the barbeque so the large number of walkers, runners and cyclists were able to enjoy their short tour of Carnally and the Lurgan road. Later on the children had a great time on the bouncy castles and were well entertained by the clowns. Knowing the kids were well looked after meant the parents could relax and enjoy the craic and music of Pat and Michael.Anyone still have a sponsor card to retun they can leave it in the clubrooms by this weekend.
