Seniors
The Seniors played a re-fixed game against Killeavy last Friday night and were unfortunate to lose in the dying seconds of the game.
The large crowd of spectators were treated to an enjoyable game of football on a fine sunny summer’s evening. Liam Campbell opened with a point and worked hard all through the half to add another point and a goal to his tally. The ball was tightly contested by both teams and we saw some fine fielding and dispossessing with the battle at the middle of the field all-important. The Bridge trailed by three points at the break but they worked hard from the resumption of play to eat into that lead. A wonderful long range point by Gerard McGarvey brought the teams level and Ciaran Conlon converted a difficult free to give the Bridge the lead with just a couple of minutes to go. But, as is so often heard, a game is never over until the final whistle and Killeavy won the ball from the kick-out and found the back of the net to claim the game. The final score was 2-11 to 1-12.
B Team
The B’s were in action against Dromintee again last Wednesday night and an evenly contested game played in a good sporting spirit resulted, with little between the teams and a draw a fair result.Colm Traynor scored a fine point to get the Bridge going and it was point for point throughout the game with Eugene Byrne’s last two points ensuring the teams shared the spoils.
This Wednesday’s game is the Championship final. Please check the paper for venue and time.
Minors
The minor team made a good start in their quest for championship honours with a win over Wolfe Tones last Monday night. This was a good entertaining game in which the team made the best of their scoring opportunities, and in fact the majority of their scores in the match were from play. An in-form Thomas McKenna got the lads on their way with a nicely taken point and goals from him and Fergal Campbell along with points from Gerard McGarvey, Eugene Byrne and Ruairi Griffin meant the team was in a healthy position at the break. The boys kept up the pressure in the second half to hold on to that lead and by the final whistle the score was 4-10 to 0-10.
Its back to the league this week and the lads travel in the road to Crossmaglen for this week’s game.
