Seniors    Silverbridge Harps 0-13    St Patricks 0-7

Saturday past was decision day in the Intermediate Championship quarterfinal contest between the Bridge and Cullyhanna and after a tough encounter and extra time the Bridge came out on top.
The Pats got off to a good start with two points while the Bridge had plenty of possession but put three attempts wide. Damian McCann opened for the Bridge in the twelfth minute after a good Brendan Bellew interception and for the following thirteen minutes the ball sallied up and down the field to finally end in a point for the Cullyhanna men. As the half drew to a close a Liam Campbell point left us just one point behind at the break. The Bridge backs played well to deny the Cullyhanna forwards the advantage and Miceal Reel in goals watched the high ball closely to fist it out of danger. Wayward shooting and missed chances, seven wides in fact, denied the Bridge the advantage their possession deserved.
Cullyhanna won the ball at the throw-in but the ever-vigilant Miceal Reel collected the ball and got it back up the field. Ciaran Conlon converted a free to bring the teams level and points from Eugene Byrne and Cormac McAvoy gave the Bridge the edge. They then lost their way somewhat to let the Cullyhanna men equalise and then go ahead. Just as the final minute approached Damian McCann sliced over a long range shot under hard pressure to keep the contest alive!! To the relief of the team and supporters we were into extra time and another chance.
When the first half of extra time was over the Bridge had played some excellent football and with two Cormac McAvoy points were in the lead again. The Pats got away first at the resumption of play but their attempt went wide and the stamina of the Bridge lads began to count and four unanswered points gave them a convincing win.
The discipline, determination, stamina and football skills of the Bridge team earned them this victory, and a meeting with Ballymacnab next Saturday at 5-30pm in Carrickcruppen.
