Seniors   Silverbridge Harps 1-9   Keady Michael Dwyers  1-7

The senior team had a tough encounter with Keady on Sunday afternoon but held on to claim the victory.
Liam Campbell opened the scoring with a well-taken point from a crafty Brendan Byrne pass, but Keady replied with two scores as they seemed to be getting the upper hand at midfield. Ciaran Conlon was in the right spot to take a pass in and turned the ball nicely into the back of the net. The Bridge lads then took the upper hand, making more of the midfield breaks, tackling and fielding skilfully and four more points gave them a nice cushion at the break.
The Bridge came out in top gear after the break but missed their first two shots. They almost paid the penalty for over elaborating at times with the ball and failing to take the scores as they presented, when Keady got two points and a goal to equalise and might have gone further ahead but for Miceal Reel’s timely intervention. This was a fast game won for the Bridge by the defence with the forwards putting over enough points to hold on to the lead.
Team: Miceal Reel. Anthony Mallie, Peter McCreesh, Ruairi Murchan, Colm Hughes, Niall Reel, Seamus Martin, Aidan Hearty, Ryan Hamill, Brendan Byrne (0-1), Liam Campbell (0-2), Damian McCann (0-4), Ciaran Conlon (1-1), Fergal Campbell, Cormac McAvoy(0-1). Subs; Brendan Bellew, Raymond Crummy, Kieran Campbell, Peter Burns, Peter McCreesh.
Next Sunday’s game is in Cullyhanna at 2 pm against St Patricks.

B Team

The B team did not have a game last week but on Wednesday night they travel to Dromintee for their match at 7-30 pm.

Minors

The minors had to concede defeat to Oliver Plunketts on Monday last. The team had played with great determination and at one stage had narrowed the deficit to two points but the game slipped away from them in the final minutes. Ruairí Griffin, Paul Hughes and Christopher Murphy showed great form and Dean Martin scored his first goal of the season.
Tonight (Monday) the team have a home game against Carrickcruppen.

U 16

The U 16s had a very sporting contest with Dromintee last Thursday night, but came off second-best. The team battled hard but Dromintee had perfected the long ball in and claimed their goals to build up a good lead. Good performances from Sean Murphy, Gary Rowland, Brian Hearty and Gary Martin contributed to this entertaining game of football.
This Thursday night is Championship time for the team. Carrickcruppen, who will have home advantage, will provide the opposition. The throw-in is 7-15 pm and the boys would appreciate your support so get to Carrickcruppen to cheer them on.

U 14

The U 14s did not have a game last week but they play Shane O’Neills this Tuesday in the Bridge at 7-15 pm.

U 12

The U 12s secured another two league points at home to Dromintee on Saturday. Some wayward shooting in the first half meant the boys trailed at halftime.
With the breeze behind them in the second half the Bridge gradually clawed their way back into the game. A good all-round second half ensured a victory by four points.
Next week the lads are at home to St Patricks. There will be training on Tuesday evening at 6-30 pm sharp.
Team: Cormac McKinley, Conor McCrave, Cathal McKeown, James McKeown, Sean Garvey, Paddy Reel, Paul McKeever, Eoin Burns, Ciaran Mulholland, Gavin Rowland, Peter Reel, Padraig Keating, Toe Rocks, Aodhan Quinn and Aaron Grant.

U 10

The U 10s kept plugging away in their match with Dromintee on Sunday morning to clinch the game with the last kick of the ball. The lads started well but were a point behind at the break.  The team gave a good all-round performance but were particularly strong in defence and at midfield and never gave up. This determination brought them a goal as the game seemed to slip away and with it came victory.
Last Sunday week they also put in a great effort to draw with Shane O’Neills.
Next Sunday they host St Patricks.

5 to 8 year olds

Training continues every Sunday morning for this eager group of boys and girls.

Ladies Football

U 12

The U 12s had a bye last week, but this Friday they are at home to Oliver Plunketts. There will be training on Wednesday evening from 5-30 to 6-30 pm.

U 14

The U 14s had a great win away to Killeavy on Monday last. They played with tremendous heart; the enthusiastic younger girls such as Aoife Moley, Denise Buckley and Beth Carragher learning from the “experienced” Laura McShane and Gráinne Garvey.

U 16

The U 16s are away to Killeavy tonight (Monday).

Seniors

The Senior ladies came from behind to take the points at Mullaghbrack on Saturday night. Mullaghbrack went in at the break one point to the good and held the advantage well into the second half. With ten minutes to go the Bridge girls woke up to the task in hand and started playing as we know they can. Goals from Aimee McQuillan, sub. Clare O’Callaghan and Dara Collins changed the game and added to the great work Threasa Loye had been doing at the middle of the field to win the match.

INTO Sevens

Congratulations to the boys of St Brigid’s Primary school in Glassdrummond who acquitted themselves so well in Armagh last Thursday. They were there to represent South Armagh and played some lovely football, but lost out by two points to C.B.S. Armagh and by two kicks of the ball to St Francis’ Lurgan-- the two teams who eventually contested the final. Although disappointed the boys enjoyed the opportunity to represent their school and their part of the county. Well done to teacher, Mary Keating and her assistant Damien Rock for their encouragement and endeavour.
The St Brigid’s girls were also in action on Monday last but they lost out to Mullaghbawn and Ballymoyer. Once again the girls gave committed performances and can be proud of their efforts. Mary Keating was mentor to this team also and was ably assisted by Kevin Martin.
The League commences next week for the children and we wish them continued success.
