RIP

The local community said farewell to another staunch GAA man last week with the passing of Paddy Reynolds. Paddy assumed the role of treasurer to this club when it reformed in 1953 and held the post for a couple of years as well as wearing the Bridge jersey. He was ever a stalwart supporter of the club and club activities down the years. To his sister, brothers and entire family circle we extend our sincere condolences.

Seniors

The seniors travelled to Annaghmore on Sunday morning for their return meeting with Annaghmore Pearses.
It was a grand morning and a lively group of supporters accompanied the team to see them claim another two league points.
The team got off to a good start with a fine Liam Campbell point and a Niall Treanor free, but as the game progressed they found it difficult to turn their possession into scores. They had “scored” six wides before a Damian McCann goal, which resulted from a good team passage of play with the ball moving at speed up the field, gave them a little breathing space. That relief was short-lived when the home team rattled the back of the net and went in at halftime two points ahead.
The Bridge made two forays down the field as the second half began but these broke down and the homesters added another two points to their tally. The Bridge lads finally woke to the task in hand and while there were some serious wides there were also some well-worked scores and great defending from the backs especially Ruairi Murchan. By the final whistle we were two points ahead on a score line of 1-9 to 1-7.

U 8

There will be an U 8 blitz next Saturday 1st September in The Bridge. All children are asked to be at the field for 9-45 am.

The U 16s lost to Crossmaglen last Wednesday night in their final League game of this season. They enjoyed quite a successful year finishing mid-table in their league.
