Seniors

The seniors did not have a game this week, but next Sunday they are at home to Killeavey. At this time I do not have a throw-in time, but please watch the local press for full fixture details.

B Team

An out-of-form B team lost to Killeavey on Wednesday night past and so exited the south Armagh league. They still have the all-County league final with Carrickcruppen to look forward to.

U 12

The U 12 team took part in a four-team blitz in Dromintee on Saturday, which included Mullaghbawn, Killeavey and the host team.
The lads defeated Mullaghbawn and Killeavey to reach the final where Dromintee awaited them. After an evenly contested game the lads lost by just two points. Everyone enjoyed the day and all came home with a medal, and Joe Rock received the Player of the Tournament award.
The team also defeated Carrickmacross on Thursday and this Tuesday the season comes to a close with a friendly against Forkhill.

U 10

The U 10s were also in action in Dromintee in a blitz on Sunday. They, too, reached the final with wins over Shane O’Neills and Forkhill, but Dromintee proved too strong for them. Despite the rain the youngsters played a great game with heart and determination and showed great improvement from the beginning of the year.

U 8

The U 8s took part in a very successful blitz at home in the Bridge on Saturday. There was a wonderful turnout of young people eager and willing to don their club colours, with the Bridge fielding two teams. Everyone had a marvellous time with all games played in excellent sporting manner. Congratulation to all who took part and thanks to everyone who organised the day.
These young players will be taking part in next Saturday’s blitz in Dromintee. The bus will be leaving at 9-30 pm sharp and the children are asked to bring a packed lunch.

5 to 8 year olds

There will be training as usual next Sunday morning for these boys and girls.

Ladies

Senior Ladies:  Silverbridge 2-10   Sarsfields 3-3.

Following a good 3-10 to 0-2 win over Tí na nÓg on Tuesday night last the Bridge girls entertained unbeaten Sarsfields on Saturday night.
Not for the first time this season, the Bridge were slow to start and the visiting Sarsfields were two goals ahead within five minutes of the start.  The girls had really left themselves a mountain to climb, but climb it they did in fine style.  Driven on by Adrienne Hoey at full back they were level within ten minutes with points from Dara Collins and Laura McShane (2) and the levelling goal from Aoibheann Traynor.  Sarsfields responded with a point but Aoibheann levelled again with a similar score.  With Niamh Gernon and Laura McShane torturing the Sarsfield defence the home side led by a single point at halftime with everything to play for in the second half.
Despite dominating the opening exchanges, the Bridge could only manage a single point in response to a similar score from Sarsfields, before they were rocked by a Sarsfield goal against the run of play that put the visitors two points ahead with ten minutes remaining.  It was then that the Bridge girls showed true spirit in battling back once again with points from Laura McShane and Aoibheann Traynor to level the scores before Laura scored a tremendous solo goal to put the home side back in front.  Roisin Murphy and Kiera McKinley denied Sarsfields a certain goal with great defending  and Aoibheann Traynor put the result beyond doubt with a pointed free.
Team: J Reel, K McKinley, A Hoey, S Reel, M Burns, R Murphy, L Murphy, T Loye, P Murphy, O Reel, L McShane (1-5), n Gernon, C O’Callaghan, A Traynor (1-4), D Collins (0-1). Subs: A McQuillan, G Garvey, C Hughes.
The team now play Mullaghbrack in a refixture on Thursday night at home at 7 pm and are away to Keady on Saturday.

Lotto

Last week’s numbers were 8, 18, 19 and 25. Although the jackpot was not won there were nine match three winners. This week’s jackpot will be £19,000 or €28,500.

Meetings

There will be a meeting of the Executive Committee on Tuesday evening 4th September at 9 pm.

Official Opening of our New Fields.

Our fine new fields will be officially opened on Sunday 7th October and we look forward to seeing all our members and well-wishers there as we reach an exciting milestone in the club development.

Help Needed

While the new fields are looking well there remain some final tasks to see it completely finished. As the official opening will soon be upon us, we are asking for help to do a general clean-up and complete the many little odds and ends still outstanding. All willing can contact Anthony Mallie on 30 861 257 who is organising a rota of volunteers. As always we are extremely grateful for the input and support of the local community.

Sunday’s Championship Matches

The replay of the U 16 championship and the senior championship encounter between Crossmaglen and Carrickcruppen will be played at Keeley Park next Sunday. Consequently we will be catering for a large crowd and would be grateful for as many stewards as possible and other help to ensure everything runs smoothly. Just turn up before the games and we will find something for you to do.
