Senior Team

Silverbridge 0-12  St Michaels 0-10

The Senior Team played their first home game in the league against St Michaels. The home side started the game well and maintained a comfortable lead throughout the first half. They were 4 points ahead at the half time whistle 0-7 to 0-3. The opening minutes of the second half were dominated by St Michaels with them scoring two points in quick succession and at one stage there was only 1 point between the two sides. B Cumiskey made two great saves to keep the opposition at bay and a point scored by L Campbell after a brillant solo run gave the Bridge that extra edge needed to kill the game. The Bridge lads showed great team work and proved that they can hold their confidence when its needed most.

The team was: B Cumiskey, C Reel, P Hughes, A Mallie, S Murphy, C Conlon (0-1), B Byrne, N Treanor, L Campbell (0-2), K O Connell, R Crummie (0-1), P Cumiskey (0-1), R Griffin (0-2), C Lambe, E Byrne (0-3) Subs: T Mc Kenna (0-1), P Carragher and N Quinn (0-1)

The next game is away to Tir Na Og on Saturday evening 2 May at 7.00pm.

U 16's

The Under 16's were beaten by Shane O Neills during the week. The team played well but were just unable to beat off the opposition.

Ladies Football

The Ladies were beaten by Mullaghbawn on Saturday evening with a final score of 4-5 to 0-10. Four goals in the first half made it difficult for the Bridge Ladies to close the gap however everyone played well but it just wasn't to be on the day.

La nNa gClub

The next meeting to discuss the 125 Celebrations is on Tuesday 21 April at 8.00pm. Preparations are well underway for La nNa gclub weekend in May. Part of the activities for the weekend will be an exhibition of old photographs, medals, jerseys etc of the club. If anyone has anything they might like to contribute to the exhibition please bring them along on Tuesday 28 April between 8.00 and 10.00pm when a committee member will scan old photographs and return them on the night to ensure that nothing is lost.

Under 14's

Silverbridge 3-12 Grange 2-7

Congratulations to the U14 who won the Feile Final on Sunday evening. They beat Grange in a great game played in Newtownhamilton. The Bridge boys dominated throughout the game and played some spectacular football. A goal in the opening seconds of the game put the Bridge in the lead which was to remain the case until the final whistle. The half time score was 2-10 to 0-3 to the Bridge. Grange came into the game a bit more in the second half but were no match for the well trained, methodical Bridge side. This was a great acheivement for the young lads and their managers. The Bridge came so close in 1999 and 2000 as runners up but this was the icing on the cake for a great team. Well done lads!!!

Armagh V Donegal

Congratulations to Armagh Minor Team who won the Ulster League Cup on Saturday. They beat Donegal by 4 points in Healy Park, Omagh. Well done to Peter Carragher who played in midfield for the Orchard County. It is a proud time for Silverbridge to have a club representative on the Minor County squad.

Irish Dancing

Congratulations to all our local Irish Dancers who competed at the All Ireland and International Dancing Championships in Ennis Co Clare over the Easter break. There was a lot of Silverware brought home in many sections which was the result of a lot of hard work carried out by all those involved.

There was a lot of entertainment taking place around the club at the weekend which started on Friday night with the Fund Raising function for the Liver Unit in the Royal Victoria Hospital and on Saturday the Confirmation meal and disco provided the entertainment for all those who were confirmed on Saturday.
