B Team

Silverbridge 2-12 Drumintee 2-7

On Wednesday night the two top teams in the B Division, Silverbridge met Drumintee in the South Armagh League final in Mullaghbawn. Played in perfect conditions, the Bridge lads started the stronger, but were unable to get early scores on the board. With ten minutes gone, a point behind, and three wides to our name it took the wise head of T Mallie to settle the team with a goal and point in quick succession. This was followed up with points from C Traynor, J Campbell and C Rowland. By the half way point we were 1-4 to 1-1 to the good. Drumintee started the second half much the stronger, playing a more direct style of football. With only one point between the teams captain C Traynor settled nerves with his second point followed by a free from C Maguire. It was then the opportunity for our defenders to take their scoring chances with corner back K Lambe and half back B Bellew adding a point each to the scoreboard. The game was all but settled when veteran Frank Smyth was in the right place at the right time to grab the second goal after a well worked move up the field. It took the heroics of keeper B Cumiskey to deny Drumintee two clear cut goal chances, and with the exciting young talent of C Maguire adding 4 more points the game was ours. This was probably the best this team has played all year, with the defence never giving an inch. The midfield pairing of Jarlath and Joe were on top throughout the game, losing only two kickouts the whole game. This was followed up by the hard work from all our forwards with five out of six, getting their name on the score board. It was a great game of football and a great result for the players and management team.

Team: B Cumiskey, K Lambe, A Campbell, M Lavelle, B Bellew, N Traynor, P Cumiskey, J Burns, J Campbell, N Quinn, C Traynor, C Rowland, C Maguire, T Mallie, F Smyth. Subs used: P Hughes, O Hearty, P Reel and H Daly.

The players, Gary and the club would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Rory and Ann-Marie on the birth of their son during the week

Senior Team

The Seniors meet Clonmore in the Intermediate Championship on Friday 24 July at 7.30pm in Granemore.

Congratulations To Ulster Champions!

Congratulations to the Armagh Minor team who beat Down on Sunday in the Ulster Final. It is a credit to two Bridge men, Paul Mc Shane the Manager and Peter Carragher who once again excelled himself in the County colours. It was also a very special occasion for our own Megan Burns who sang Amhran na bhFiann so beautifully in front of a sell out crowd at Clones. All in all it was a great representation of the talent in Silverbridge both on and off the field.

Gaelic Start

Gaelic Go Start continues on Sundays as usual. Once again we would urge that everyone is there for 10.45 and as many parents as possible are available to help look after the activity stations.
