Silverbridge GAC Notes
Senior TeamThe Senior team were beaten by Ballymacnab on Friday night 1-11 to 0-7 at home in the Bridge. As it is coming towards the end of the league it is important that everyone gives their full committment and full attendance at training is crucial for these last few matches.
Youth Club
The youth club is due to reopen in September again for the young people of our club and from surrounding areas. The youth club is a terrific social outlet for young people particularly during the winter months. However due to lack of youth club leaders and volunteers, we are now in a position that it may not be possible to reopen. We are looking for youth club leaders who are available and committed to working with the young people one night a week on a number of sports and recreational activities including soccer, basketball, uni-hoc, arts and crafts, cookery etc. We also need a group of volunteers who are available once or twice a month to help supervise. Anybody interested in becoming a youth club leader or volunteer are asked to please contact Mairead Kelly 0864028372 or Lizzy Smyth 07816343842.
If we have No Help We will have No Youth Club!
The Youth Club Annual General Meeting is due to be held on Thursday 3rd September at 8.00pm in the Resource Centre.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Armagh Minor Manager Paul Mc Shane and all the lads on their great win over Kerry on Sunday in the All Ireland Semi Final. They played a great game and were unfortunate not to have beaten the Kingdom by a lot more. Our own Peter Carragher showed great strength and was the instigation of setting up the goal in the opening minutes of the second half. Well Done Peter. We are extremely proud of you all and we are now looking forward to the All Ireland Final in September.
Under 12 boys League Semi Final against Cross Rangers .
The Under 12 boys (girls included) travelled to St Michael's,
Newtownhamilton and made a very good account of themselves. Going on an
immediate attack they registered 2 goals & 3 points unanswered, Rangers
then came back and the 1st half finished with The Rangers ahead by 2
points. The second half started with the Bridge scoring 2 points and
Rangers gaining a goal from a penalty (These were the only scores in
the second half) but the endeavours and skills of both teams were not
lacking in this whirlwind of a game. The Bridge were denied a goal
towards the end when the ball hit the post from a penalty and another
ball just fell short, Leaving Rangers escaping extra time to win the
game and good luck to them in the final. Training/Game on Thursday 27 at
7.00pm
