Intermediate Football Championship
The Intermediate Championship kicked off @ 7.30pm in Granmore, with our Lads playing Middletown, who where the favourites to win in this match. The finishing result of 2-08 to 1-13 shows just how tight and tough a game this was for the boys. Middletown where deservedly in the lead at half time with a lucky tap in goal mid way through the half. At one stage in the 2nd half when the Bridge where 8 points behind with just over 12min to go things didn’t look to good. And it looked as though they would be making an early exit from the Championship. The boys where always going to have a period of dominance in the 2nd half and it started off with a Thomas McKenna goal which showed great work rate by the young lad to chase a shot by Damien McCann which seemed to be going wide. This gave a huge lift to the entire team from 1-15. Middletown didn’t score for the last 20min of the 2nd half. The more experienced players on the team stepped it up and took control of the game with Damien McCann scoring 5 2nd half points as well as Ciaran Conlon contributing 2 2nd half points also. This was a hard fought victory for the boys, and we’ll look forward to going and Supporting them once again in the next round.
