Seniors Division 2 (Silverbridge 0-5; Killeavy 0-5)
Last Sunday we played Killeavy in the League in St Moninna’s Park in wet and blustery conditions. Killeavy were first to score but after 5 minutes a clash in the middle of the field resulted in a young Killeavy player needing hospital treatment. We wish him a speedy recovery. When play resumed, Killeavy added another 3 points to the score sheet and just before half time the ‘bridge got their opening point (P Carragher). Half time: Silverbridge 0-1; Killeavy 0-4.
The visitors came out in the second half with a renewed sense of purpose with Brendan Byrne getting another 3 points on the score board. Killeavy responded with a point but Eugene Byrne managed to level the scores. A very encouraging performance all round. Next match way to Mullaban Wed 22nd June
LADIES Seniors (Silverbridge 4-11: Clann Eireann 1-7) What a performance! The ladies travelled to Clann Eireann last Saturday into the jaws of the Championship favourites and took them by storm! A tough, physical encounter with the ‘bridge ladies unrelenting in their efforts to stay in control and stick to their game plan. What makes this team so special is the willingness of each player to do their very best and never give up even when the odds are against them. Everyone truly deserves to be mentioned by name for their part in this victory however we can all agree that Megan Burns’ name stands out for her powerful display in midfield. Two players gave remarkable performances despite being still on the injured list – Shauna Mulholland & Denise Buckley. When we say well done to everyone, we mean just that! Well done! A special thankyou to John Pepper and Joe Murphy for all their hard work and to all those who continue to show their support for this great team. (Next match date not yet arranged)
