FOOTBALL SENIORS: Intermediate Championship (Silverbridge 1-07;Tír na nÓg 0-11) The match last Friday 26th August against Tír na nÓg gave us a lot of action but not the result we were hoping for. Tír na nÓg opened the scoring with 3 unanswered points before the ‘Bridge got their own name on the score sheet and despite keeping Tír na nÓg under pressure they found themselves trailing by 5 points at half time (0-8 to 0-3). Silverbridge started strongly in the second half by getting 3 points in quick succession. Persistent pressure and a goal from Gerard McGarvey in the latter stages soon saw the scores level but a Tír na nÓg point in the last minute cruelly dashed our hopes. This team has shown great spirit and drive throughout the season and we look forward to a lot more action in the League.
U16 ladies – training as usual
MINORS – Championship Quarter Final (Silverbridge 3-08; St Peter’s 1-11)A cautiously optimistic Silverbridge team travelled to Lurgan on Monday 22nd August to meet a well favoured St Peter’s team. The home side opened the scoring with a well taken point. Shortly after equalising, the ‘Bridge were awarded a penalty which Sean McLoughlin ably converted. Two further points left us with a one point advantage at half time (1-03; 0-5). Both teams came out in the second half with renewed vigour - a powerful run from Seamie Kelly with a point at the end of it helped to push Silverbridge forward and open up a number of scoring opportunities. A clash between Paul Hearty and his opponent resulted in an injury for St Peter’s – we wish the player concerned a speedy recovery. With still everything to play for both teams continued to knuckle down – two quick goals (Aodhan Quinn & Bryan Murphy) and a few more points enabled the ‘Bridge to really stretch their lead and despite a very competent fight back from St Peter’s the ‘Bridge held out for a 3 point win. TEAM: Lorcan Burns, Padi Reel, Cathal McKeown, Paul Hearty, Gary Reel, Seamie Kelly, Fionnán Burns, Gerard Mines, Martin Hearty, Eoghan Burns, Sean McLoughlin, Francis Carragher, Pauraic Keating, Cillian Quinn, Bryan Murphy SUBS: Aodhan Quinn, Ciaran Mulholland

Under 8 – training as usualUnder 10 – On Sunday 21st August last the U10's had a game against Killeavy. After a slow start the team settled into a rhythm and started to apply strong pressure on the Killeavy defence. The team was aided with good displays from Jamie Martin after an injury forced him into goals, with Tom Hamill and Conor Hearty working very hard in defence. The midfield partnership of Oisín Murphy & Sean Rock supplied good balls into the forward line which resulted in some fine scores from Conor McVerry, Conall Burns & Conor McShane. This whole team continues to make great progress this year – well done to all concerned. Game at home against Culloville on Thursday. Could all players be at clubrooms at 6.30pm.
Under 12 – Training as usual.
Under 14 Boys – Training continues at the usual times this week.
Under 16 – (Silverbridge 3-13; Grange 1-06 ) On Thursday 25th August our U16 team played in the quarter final of the Shield. The first point from Grange was followed by 2 from the ‘Bridge. After Grange netted a penalty, the ‘Bridge ran straight down the field and launched a shot on goal that got pushed over the bar. The loss of 2 Grange players gave the home side the edge and at half time the ‘Bridge found themselves with a one point lead (0-7; 1-3). Once they had settled down in the second half, 3 goals in succession and some well taken points enabled the ‘Bridge to consolidate their hold on the match and earn their place in the final. A very strong performance all round and well done to everyone involved. TEAM: C McKinley, S Garvey, P Reel, C Quinn, D Reel, C Mulholland, J McKeown, C McKeown, A Quinn, E Burns, P Keating, A Grant, J Rock, D Traynor, G Rowland SUB: Jack McArdle for Gavin Rowland.
