ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Our AGM took place on Wednesday 15th February 2012 in the Clubrooms following mass at 7pm for deceased members of Silverbridge Harps. There was a huge turnout, probably our biggest to date. The following new Executive Committee officers were elected: CHAIRMAN: Jarlath Burns, VICE CHAIRMAN: John Murphy, SECRETARY: Aidan Murphy, ASSISTANT SECRETARY: Michael Mallie, TREASURER: Nicholas Traynor, ASSISTANT TREASURERS: Martin Murphy & Tony McKenna, PRO: Rosie Burns, COUNTY BOARD DELEGATE: Noel Reel, MEMBERSHIP OFFICER: Kate Reel, CULTURAL OFFICER: Thomas Mallie, COACHING OFFICER: Michael McGeeney, INSURANCE OFFICER: Michael Donaghy, YOUTH DELEGATES: Ciaran McGuire and Conor Mc Ardle, REGISTRAR: Anthony Mallie.
We would firstly like to thank Fr McKinney for the lovely mass as well as Marian Murphy and Margaret Finnegan for their assistance. A special thankyou also to Theresa and Arthur Murphy for preparing the tea and snacks after the service. Thanks to everyone who helped out in any other way.
A number of tributes were paid to some of the long serving outgoing Executive Committee officers. Donal Walsh, outgoing Chairman, was very warmly thanked for his immense contribution to Silverbridge Harps. His many initiatives over the years have provided Club members with numerous opportunities to develop their sporting and cultural talents. Thomas Hamill, outgoing Treasurer, was also thanked for his massive role in the development of Silverbridge Harps. He too has given so much of his time and expertise to the Club. Peter Murphy, for many years, has given unique commitment to the post of Cultural Officer. Marian Murphy has also given many years of service on the Executive most recently as Assistant Treasurer.
The work of Toni Carragher, outgoing secretary, was also recognised. Over the past year she has carried out the duties of this very busy post with great dedication. Damian Duffy, Geraldine McNamee, Anne Martin and Michael Toal also gave great service to the Executive last year and we thank them very sincerely for their work. We also recognise the support provided by the various committees which continues to be a key factor in the strength and development of our Club. Furthermore we are ever mindful of and thankful for the quiet, dignified work of so many individuals/volunteers in various areas of club life.
The huge turnout at this particular AGM is clearly an indication of the pride and interest our members take in our Club. At the end of the day we all want what’s best for the Club and with this foremost in our minds we can build on our many achievements and successes and channel the goodwill that clearly exists to make 2012 a really great year for Silverbridge Harps.
