The Bridges' Got Talent

A wonderful evening's entertainment was provided by our youth club members at 'The Bridges Got Talent' Show last Friday in the Resource Centre in aid of the charity Friends for Children. 13 acts participated which included singers, dancers, traditional musicians and Irish dancers. All those in attendance thoroughly enjoyed the show which was a display of the great talent from the young people in the area. The three judges had the hard task on deciding on the eventual winners; with Moya Strain (Solo Singing) emerging as the winner on the night, Ryan Mc Keown (Irish Dancing) came second and third prize was jointly awarded to Glitz & Glam (Dancing) and The Trio Group (Traditional Music). The Youth Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all the young people who participated on the night and to everyone who attended the show or bought tickets. Many thanks also to the three judges on the night Denis Mc Groon - Chairman of Friends for Children, Rosie Carey - SELB Senior Youth Worker, South Armagh and Kieran Faughey.

A cheque was presented to Denis Mc Groon Chairman of Friends for Children on the night by members of the Youth Club and leaders Clare Faughey, Lizzy Smyth and Mairead Kelly. The money was raised from a youth club disco held earlier in the year and also from the Talent Show on Friday night.

A special presentation was also made to Anne Martin who stepped down from her role as Chairperson of the youth club last year. A token of appreciation was presented to Anne by youth club leaders Clare Faughey, Lizzy Smyth and Mairead Kelly.

The clubs celebrations will take place this weekend beginning with the senior match against Ballyhegan at 7.00 pm on Friday night. This will be followed by the unveiling of a plaque dedicated to the memory of Peter Keeley. A Folk Mass will then take place in the the Resource Centre with the Silverbridge Rose in the Social Club afterwards. There will be events for Special Needs on Saturday morning followed by the Cic Fhada from Carnally to the football field in the afternoon. A Recreational Football match will take place on Saturday evening which will be aimed at those who no longer play football. There are more lenient rules for this game and one of these rules is "no contact" which should help eliminate injuries etc. Kevin Kearney and his band will provide the entertainment for Saturday night.

Sunday is the official day of celebrations and will begin at 12.30 with a parade from Daly Park to the football field. This parade will be led by the Artane Boys Band which is a great privilege for Silverbridge to have secured such a wonderful band . Sundays entertainment will include events for all ages in the football field as well as bouncy castles etc in the Resource Centre for the younger children. The fun packed weekend will finish off with a traditional session in the wee bar.

Here is a list of all the events taking place over the weekend.
