SPRING CLEAROUT!

In order to raise funds for our underage football teams we are organising a USED CLOTHES/TEXTILES APPEAL. Club volunteers will be distributing and collecting black bags in the wider Silverbridge area over the next few weeks. Any old clothes, textiles etc that you no longer need would be greatly appreciated. Bags can also be left at a designated area at the football club or given to any member of the Executive. Many thanks in advance.

CONDOLENCES

Silverbridge Harps GAC would like to offer its sympathy to the family of Rose Moley who passed away last week. Many players will remember her driving them to football matches over the years and she will be remembered as a great friend of Silverbridge Harps - may she rest in peace. FOOTBALL

CLARIFICATION

The score in the Peter Keeley Cup final last weekend should have read - Silverbridge Harps 1-04; Kilcoo 2-03. Thanks for contacting me directly with this information - I am very glad to clarify or amend any of the Notes as required.

SENIOR INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE third  round – Silverbridge Harps (3-09) Tír na nÓg (0-12). Last Wednesday night’s match against Tír Na nÓg was played at home under lights. We started off well and two first half goals from Martin Hearty and Eugene Byrne left us leading at half time by five points. We started the second half well with a point from Sean McLoughlin but then Tír Na nÓg came back strongly and reduced our lead to three. Mid way through the second half a goal by Seamus Kelly finished off some good team play and put us back in control finishing the game with a 6 point win.

SENIOR INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE  fourth round Sunday 22nd April (Silverbridge Harps 1-11: Tullysaran 0-8)

This home encounter in Keeley Park in very slippery conditions underfoot saw the home team take a while to find their feet. The visitors made a strong start and their good use of possession meant they had built up a 3 point lead at half time (0-3: 0-6). The defence continued to battle on and we started the second half with a well taken point from Liam Campbell. We slowly narrowed the gap with Eugene Byrne levelling the sides at 7 points. We were denied a goal  when the ball hit the post and Tullysaran squeezed ahead again but a point from Sean McLoughlin to level the sides for a second time started a flurry of scores from the home team for the remainder of the match. The goal from Bob Hearty resulted from a Cormac McEvoy ball on the rebound. Notably Miceal Reel made a number of significant catches in the goal mouth throughout the game. Great resilience and great team work from everyone.

Senior Ladies Division 2 Saturday 21st April (Silverbridge Harps 6-11: Granemore 1-7) A terrific performance against a well established 2nd division team. The dominance of the midfield throughout was a key factor in this very significant victory at this early stage in the season. Very well done to team and management. Next match against Tullysarron. Training on Mondays and Fridays. Keep up the good work, ladies.

The club held a presentation night for the outgoing Lord Mayor Colie Burns on Saturday night. Music was provided by Setanta with the Lord Mayor himself singing a couple of songs !! A presentation was made to Colie by Chairman Kieran Murphy in appreciation for all the work he done for the area and for being such a great ambassador for Silverbridge in his year as Lord Mayor. The delicious buffet was provided by Delilites and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the nights craic.
